42% slashed off Samsung's 990 Pro SSD, 2TB now $369 — $270 savings brings one of the fastest PCIe 4.0 SSDs to its lowest price in months
Save $270 (42%) and pick up one of the fastest PCIe 4.0 x4 M.2 SSDs at a reasonable-for-the-times price.
With many of the combo deals on Newegg running out of steam, we came across this solid deal on one of the fastest PCIe 4.0 M.2 SSDs around: the 2TB Samsung 990 Pro. Currently on sale for $369.99 (from an eye-watering $639.99), you’ll save $270, an incredible 42% off at Newegg, and have some cash leftover for other parts to update your PC, laptop, or PS5 (you will need a heatsink for this application).

We reviewed this drive shortly after release and loved its strong all-around performance, excellent software (Samsung Magician) and support, and the fact that it ran consistently, efficiently, and cool, making it a well-rounded storage option for any build.
The Samsung 990 Pro 2TB is the successor to the popular 980 Pro, using the same 2280 form factor, the in-house Samsung Pascal controller, and V7 3-bit 176-layer V-NAND TLC flash. It promises to be faster and more efficient than the 980, and it is. The drive includes 2GB of LPDDR4 DRAM, which acts as a buffer to handle data bursts during large-file transfers and helps keep performance more consistent. It comes in two flavors: one with a heatsink (MZ-V9P2T0CW) and one without (MZ-V9P2T0CW), and it also comes with a 5-year warranty.
On the performance front, the 2TB 990 Pro delivered excellent random read performance, beating a host of other 2TB PCIe 4.0 x4 drives in our testing. It was also relatively efficient in the process and good for battery-powered devices like a laptop, while also reducing thermal output. Samsung lists sequential reads at 7,450 MBps and 6,900 MBps, with IOPS at 1.4M and 1.55M reads/writes, respectively. The read speeds essentially max out the PCIe 4.0 x4 interface. It also has an endurance rating of 1,200 TBW, which is average for the generation and capacity. You’ll be hard-pressed to pass that metric unless you’re transferring gigabytes upon gigabytes of data daily.
Upgrade the storage in your PC, laptop, or PS5 with this wicked-fast 2TB Samsung 990 Pro PCIe 4.0 M.2 SSD. Recent price drops bring this speedy drive down to reasonable-for-the-times pricing and saving you $270 off the outlandish retail pricing.
At $369.99, it isn’t the least expensive 2TB PCIe 4.0 M.2 SSD available, but it is still one of the fastest of its kind for the interface (see results from our review below). If this one is too expensive and you don’t need 2TB capacity, the 1TB Samsung 990 Pro is also on sale for much less, $219.99. As you can imagine, these prices are vastly higher than they were a year ago, but we're continuing to see seeing some reductions from the painful peaks of earlier this year.

Prices have stabilized, but sadly, we're still not seeing a consistent downward trend in storage at this time. While this drive would have set you back just $140 last year, we've seen this model chart as high as $690 owing to the AI price crunch on RAM and SSDs.

Rand0m_Guy The 990 Pro 4TB was $315 for Black Friday, and the 9100 Pro 4TB was $345.... So no, this is not the "lowest price in months" since that was only 8 "months" ago.Reply
How much is Samsung paying you to claim that $369 ($54 MORE) for HALF the storage, 234% increase in "months", is a "good deal"? -

Two months = months ago
Three months = months ago
Four months = months ago
They didn't say it was the lowest price ever. They said it is a significant drop from the prices they have been charging for the last several months. This is a big deal for people who want to buy one 'now', as it is a huge savings over last month. -
AiSux No its not. Unfortunately consumer protections are no where to be found, but. Marking something up to 600 or 700 and then always having it "on sale" for around 400 is crony marketing.Reply
This is a "fair" price. Its the going price. No one is buying a 2tb stick for 600+.
Also this site is kinda mids for partaking in the predatory marketing.
