iOS 27 makes Low Power Mode better on your iPhone
iOS 27 is packed with new features, but also key performance improvements that apply systemwide on your iPhone—including in Low Power Mode.
Low Power Mode improvements coming in iOS 27
Apple has plenty of new features coming in iOS 27, like a Liquid Glass slider and upgrades for CarPlay, Apple Wallet, Messages, Notes, and more.
But the company also spent extra time this year making iOS 27 work better via bug fixes and performance improvements.
Apple specifically called out a few speed upgrades in its WWDC keynote: “up to 30% faster app launches,” “up to 70% faster loading of new captures in Photos,” and “up to 80% faster AirDrop transfers.”
Low Power Mode is another beneficiary of this focus on performance.
On its slide listing hundreds of iOS 27 changes, Apple mentioned two involving Low Power Mode:
- Faster Camera launch in Low Power Mode
- Camera uses less power in Low Power Mode
But the upgrades seem to go further, with overall speed improvements too. Here’s Benjamin Mayo on X, commenting on iOS 27 beta 1:
My experience with Low Power Mode has similarly been that it’s faster in iOS 27.
Looking to social media reports, those speed improvements seem dependent on your device. Some users with older iPhones report that Low Power Mode is still very laggy, while it seems more improved on newer models.
In any case, we’re only one beta into iOS 27, so performance improvements will undoubtedly continue happening throughout the beta cycle. And based on early testing, it seems Low Power Mode will benefit.
