Expanding its mid-range smartphone portfolio, Lenovo-owned smartphone maker Motorola has unveiled the Moto G Max in select global markets. Powered by a 4nm octa core MediaTek Dimensity 6000 series chipset, the handset sports a 6.8-inch 1.5K AMOLED screen.



Available in two colour options, Moto G Max gets a dual rear camera unit, led by a 200-megapixel main shooter.

Durability is one of the standout features of the Moto G Max. The handset carries IP66, IP68 and IP69 ratings for dust and water resistance. It is also certified to the MIL-STD-810H military-grade standard for high-pressure water jets and a range of demanding environmental conditions.

The Moto G Max runs on Android 16-based Hello UI, and is best for users looking for photography-focused hardware and dependable everyday performance.

Moto G Max 5G: Price and availability

The Moto G Max’s sole variant featuring 8GB of RAM and 256GB of onboard storage comes at a price tag of BRL 2,519.10 (roughly ₹47,000) on Motorola’s online store in Brazil.

The smartphone is available for purchase in Azul Carlo (Blue) and Grafite (translated from Portuguese) colour options.

It is worth noting that Motorola is planning to introduce the device in other markets under the Moto G87 branding.


Moto G Max 5G: Specifications and features

The dual SIM smartphone runs on Android 16-based Hello UI. It features a 6.8-inch, 1.5K Super HD (1,272×2,772 pixels) Extreme AMOLED display with a 1.5K resolution of 1272 x 2772 pixels and a 120Hz refresh rate. The screen is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 7i.

According to Motorola, the panel can achieve a peak brightness of up to 5,000 nits making it easier to view content in bright outdoor environments. It measures 164.58×77.37×7.38mm and weighs about 183g.

Under the hood, Moto G Max is powered by a 6nm octa core MediaTek Dimensity 6400 chipset that delivers a peak clock speed of 2.5GHz. The smartphone is also equipped with an ARM Mali-G57 MC2 GPU, along with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of onboard storage. Moreover, it supports virtual RAM expansion of up to 16GB.

For photography, the Moto G Max sports a dual rear camera system, headlined by a 200-megapixel primary shooter with an f/1.8 aperture, up to 10x digital zoom, and optical image stabilisation (OIS).

It boasts an 8-megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera with an f/2.2 aperture, offering a 120-degree field of view. On the front, the Moto G Max features a 32-megapixel selfie camera capable of recording videos at up to 2K resolution and 30fps.

Moto G Max houses a 5,200mAh battery and support for 33W TurboPower charging. Motorola claims the device can deliver up to 35 hours of usage on a single charge.

Other onboard sensors available in the smartphone are an accelerometer, a gyroscope, a proximity sensor, an ambient light sensor, and an e-compass. The handset also supports 5G, 4G LTE, dual-band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.4, a USB Type-C port, NFC, GPS, Glonass, Galileo, QZSS, and BeiDou for connectivity. It also gets an in-display fingerprint scanner and face unlock for security.
