Nvidia’s new N1X laptop chips take center stage as Microsoft, Arm join hype
Nvidia is all set to enter the laptop chip market with its own Arm-powered laptop chips. Ahead of Computex 2026, which is scheduled between June 2 and 5 in Taipei, Taiwan, Nvidia, Microsoft and Arm have teased the announcement on social media.

On Friday, May 29, the official X account of Nvidia GeForce and Windows posted the same message. “A new era of PC. 25.0528, 121.5990,” both the posts read. Shortly afterwards, the X account of Arm also shared the same message.

All three posts included coordinates of the venue, Taipei Music Centre, in Nangang, Taipei, where the event is being hosted. Nvidia is holding a Computex keynote at 8 pm PT / 11 pm ET on Sunday night (May 31) (11 30 am June 1 IST). There is speculation that the company will unveil its long-rumoured Arm-based laptop chips during the event. It will reportedly introduce two new laptop chips, called the N1 and N1X, designed to power a new generation of AI-focused Windows laptops.

There have been rumours about Nvidia developing laptop chips for quite some time. Earlier this year, reports suggested that both Lenobo and Dell were preparing new laptops with N1X chips. The company’s plans first surfaced in 2023, and in 2024, Dell CEO Michael Dell also hinted that Nvidia could play a role in future AI-powered personal computers.

What are N1 and N1 X chips?

The N1 and N1X are upcoming laptop processors developed by Nvidia. These are expected to combine a powerful main processor (CPU) and graphics processing unit (GPU) into a single chip and will be built on Arm architecture.

The more powerful N1X chip is rumoured to feature around 20 CPU cores and graphics based on Nvidia's latest Blackwell architecture. Major PC makers, including Dell, Lenovo and ASUS, are reportedly preparing laptops powered by the new chips, which are expected to arrive in the market by late 2026.
