If you're not one for needing the very latest model of tech, buying a previous generation tends to come with a big savings. Take that one step further and buy a used model of a previous generation and you're in a major discount. If you've been eyeing a Kindle Paperwhite but don't feel like dishing out full price, check out this limited-time offer.
As of May 26, Woot is selling refurbished scratch and dent Kindle Paperwhite e-readers (11th Gen, 32GB) for $69.99. These models have been tested to be fully functional but could have physical imperfections like scratches or dings. A new Kindle Paperwhite (12th Gen, 16GB) costs $159.
I love to score a bargain price, which is why I don't shy away from buying used tech, especially when it's certified refurbished from Amazon. I treated myself to a scratch and dent used Kindle Paperwhite from Woot last spring, and I was shocked at what showed up. I expected plenty of damage, but instead, I got a Kindle with one minor scratch on the back. Otherwise, it's in perfect shape.
Of course, buying a scratch and dent Kindle is playing Roulette. Some might have significant wear and tear, but they're all certified by Amazon to be in full working condition, but perhaps with some blemishes. For me, taking the chance on some physical issues was well worth the savings. It certainly paid of in my case since my Kindle is nearly perfect.
This sale price applies to the 11th Gen model which launched in 2021. Amazon is currently selling the 12th Gen. While this is an older model, it comes with massive storage space — a whole 32GB. The current Kindle Paperwhite doesn't even have the option to get this much storage. You'd have to upgrade to the Amazon Kindle Paperwhite Signature Edition to get 32GB which sells for $199.99.
Keep in mind that you probably don't have much time to ponder if you're willing to take a chance on a scratch and dent model. These Kindle sales at Woot tend to vanish quickly. There's only one color and storage combo remaining, so this deal will likely be gone before the end of the work day.
