Zumutor Biologics raises $7.3 Mn in Pre-Series B round

Biotech startup Zumutor Biologics has raised $7.3 million in a Pre-Series B funding round from existing investors Accel and Bharat Innovation Fund, along with participation from new investors Premji Invest, Ashish Kacholia, and Raj Dandu Family Office.

The fresh capital will be used to complete the ongoing US FDA Phase 1 clinical trial of its lead drug candidate ZM008, support Phase 1B expansion cohorts, and initiate global Phase 2 studies, including in India.

Founded by Kavitha Iyer Rodrigues, Zumutor is focused on developing immuno-oncology therapies that harness the body's innate immune system to fight cancer. Its lead program, ZM008, is a first-in-class NK (natural killer) cell checkpoint therapy designed to enhance the immune system’s ability to target and destroy cancer cells.

The brand claims to have observed encouraging early clinical signals from ongoing Phase 1 studies in selected hard-to-treat tumor types, strengthening confidence in its immunotherapy platform.

According to Zumutor, the funding will also support combination studies of ZM008 across multiple cancer indications as the company expands its clinical development program globally.

The Bengaluru-headquartered startup operates across India and the United States and is among a growing cohort of Indian biotech firms developing novel cancer therapies for global markets.
