Transition VC leads seed round in ZeroDrag

ZeroDrag, a drone avionics and Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) sub-components company, has raised Rs 6.5 crore in a seed funding round led by Transition VC.

Prior to this, the startup had raised Rs 1.2 crore in a pre-seed funding round from Enrission India Capital and other angel investors in September 2023.

The proceeds will be used to expand R&D capabilities, scale manufacturing capacity, strengthen testing and quality infrastructure, improve supply chain stability, and accelerate the development of next-generation UAV avionics for Indian and global markets, ZeroDrag said in a press release.

Co-founded in 2022 by Amit Nimje and Shantanu Bhede, ZeroDrag is a drone avionics and UAV systems company focused on building indigenous electronics, communication systems, and autonomy-ready hardware for drones.

The Nagpur-based startup develops autopilots, motor controllers, GNSS modules, telemetry systems, communication infrastructure, and payload integration systems for drone manufacturers, enterprise UAV platforms, FPV users, and industrial applications. It aims to build the foundational electronics layer that enables UAV companies to design, manufacture, and scale reliable drone systems for Indian and global markets.

ZeroDrag supplies high-performance sub-components to drone OEMs across defence, agriculture, logistics, and industrial applications. Its OEM-agnostic and application-agnostic approach allows the company to support a wide range of drone platforms and use cases across markets.

Over the next 12–24 months, ZeroDrag plans to scale its manufacturing capabilities, expand its engineering team, improve product availability, and broaden its product portfolio into enterprise-grade UAV hardware, including systems for heavy-lift drones and future eVTOL platforms.

It competes with companies such as Holybro, Caddx, SpeedyBee, and HGLRC in this space.
